Neighborhood associations in Geneva may qualify to receive up to $400 in grant funding for making improvements in their neighborhoods with the launching of the Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center’s Neighborhood Action Program (NAP) 2016 grant. The program provides seed money to support successful operations of each active neighborhood association to accomplish its strategic plan’s annual objectives. Copies of neighborhood strategic plans are available on the GNRC website and individuals are encouraged to attend neighborhood association meetings to find out more information. “The Neighborhood Action Program grant has been a way to assist associations with progressive projects for the past several years. We encourage associations to apply for the funding to continue their efforts in revitalization and beautification,” said Neighborhood Strategic Planning & Leadership Development Coordinator, Rhonda Everdyke. Allowable expenses for each project include activities that beautify the neighborhood, engage residents and/or build upon previous neighborhood accomplishments. Example projects include improvements to public spaces such as parks or playgrounds, neighborhood safety projects, association identifiers (banners, flags, house plaques, etc.) or curb appeal projects. Applications are available online on the GNRC website and are due by Friday, May 13th. Associations can turn their application either in person at 47 Castle Street, or by email to Rhonda at email@example.com. The GNRC will request a project report on completion, no later than October 14th. The GNRC will review the application as soon as possible and grant awardees will be notified by June 3rd. Successful application project managers will be required to meet with Collette Barnard from the Office of Neighborhood Initiatives to discuss administration processes for accessing the funds.
