Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, part of the Rochester Regional Health integrated health services organization, broke ground on its new front entrance for patient access project this Wednesday at 3 pm. The project, which is part of the hospital’s modernization and renovation plan, will add over 2,500 square feet of new space and renovate over 13,200 square feet of existing space (primarily in the former Emergency Department).Project Benefits:• Creation of a new, clearly defined main entrance and lobby, representative of the quality of care provided at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and Rochester Regional Health• Improved access to hospital services and outpatient departments• Centralized patient registration and presurgical testing• Improved access to and from the hospital from the DeMay Living Center and the Medical Office Building• Reintroduce the Chapel to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital• Other features– refurbished main hospital corridor, a new food bistro on the main floor and a covered drive-up entrance for admitting patients and visitors The project includes several phases and is slated to be complete in the spring of 2017. All departments affected will remain open throughout the project. Some parking and campus traffic patterns may change during construction.
