Two Goats Brewing celebrates first Solar Anniversary

Located in the heart of wine country on the shores of Seneca Lake, Two Goats Brewing has become an icon of sustainable business practices in the Finger Lakes, with their solar array completing the beautiful vista. Two Goats Brewing made the switch to solar in June of 2015, partnering with locally-based installer Renovus Solar, another step in their continued commitment to environmental sustainability. To commemorate one year of operating as a fully solar-powered business, the owners of Two Goats invite the entire Finger Lakes community, including neighboring wineries, breweries, and businesses to a celebratory Open House on Sunday, June 26th. Two Goats is the proud owner of a 50.7 kilowatt (kW) grid connected solar system that generates enough electricity to cover 90% of their annual electricity usage. They have a 6-year rate of return on their investment for a system that is guaranteed to produce solar electricity for at least 25 years, but will likely do so for at least 30. Over 25 years, the Two Goats solar system will save their business upwards of $300,000. The choice to go solar was not just about saving money for Two Goats’ owners. “From inception, our goal has been sustainability – solar is one part of attaining that goal. We hope our business model will inspire growth in our region. We want to show that it’s possible to succeed in this way,” explains Jon Rogers, brewer and owner at Two Goats. Their system has a significant environmental impact, offsetting 43 tons of carbon annually – that’s equivalent to 4,377 gallons of gasoline or 1,268 trees cleansing the air for a year. Two Goats partnered with locally-based Renovus Solar who designed and installed their solar system. Renovus Solar has over a decade of experience providing customtailored clean energy solutions for commercial and residential clients, including the first community solar options in the state. Renovus will hold a free Solar Solutions for Businesses Workshop at the Two Goats Open House event at 11am, offering area businesses information about the cost-effective solar solutions available. Renovus Solar designs solar systems that save owners money, allowing them to become energy independent while demonstrating environmental and social responsibility.Renovus Solar • 1520 Trumansburg Road • Ithaca, NY • 14850 Phone: 607. 277. 1777 • • The Open House and Solar Anniversary festivities will take place from 11 am – 8 pm on Sunday, June 26th featuring live music with Milkweed at 12:30 pm and Miller & the Other Sinners at 4 pm.
