Serious crash in Canandaigua sends three to Strong, two children among seriously injured

On Tuesday, at approximately 7:05 pm deputies in Ontario County responded to State Route 21 south on Hickox Road in the Town of Canandaigua for a two car crash with entrapment.

When deputies performed an investigation, they learned that Amy Reeg, 40, of Farmington was traveling north on State Route 21, turning left onto Hickox Road and failed to yield the right of way to Robert Bishop, 68, of Naples, who was traveling south on State Route 21.

Reeg had a four-year-old, Madison Gilchrist as a passenger in her Mazda at the time of the accident, as well as Hannah Reeg, 16, of Farmington. Bishop was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital with minor injuries to his chest by Canandaigua Ambulance.

Amy Reeg was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance with laccerations to the head. Hannah Reeg was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Canandaigua Ambulance with neck injuries. Madison Gilchrist was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for lacerations to the face and possible head trauma.

Reeg was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way making a left turn, and will answer the charge at a later date in Canandaigua Town Court.

The Cheshire Fire Department, Canandaigua Ambulance, and Finger Lakes Ambulance assisted at the scene.
