Two Honeoye residents were arrested in the Town of Richmond by deputies in Ontario County following a traffic stop on Thursday.
The stop occurred around 4:40 pm on Main St. and was initiated after a traffic checkpoint. Deputies say that Corey D. Syverson, 20, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree during the traffic stop.
Syverson was directed to pull over and during the traffic stop deputies found him to be in possession of a brown tar-like substance believed to be concentrated Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.
The passenger in the vehicle, Brandon A. Hawley, 20, was found to be in possession of a pipe and plastic container containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Syverson was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with no seatbelt and an appearance ticket for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Hawley was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana. Syverson and Hawley will answer the charges at a later date, according to Ontario County deputies.
