Prospective students will no longer be asked about their criminal history on SUNY college applications.
The SUNY Board of Trustees voted to remove questions about criminal history from the applications.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has made re-entry reform a priority for his administration. He commended the move on Wednesday, saying in a release, “I directed SUNY leadership to carefully examine this issue, because re-entry reform is a priority for my administration. We must help individuals who have served their time to move past their mistakes.”
