Although medical personnel tended to the growing lump on Alfred State College student Zachary Herrington’s collarbone — not to mention the swollen knot on his right knee — he was more than ready to get back into the swing of things.

During the fifth annual Finger Lakes Community College logging sports competition on Saturday, an event that brought college students from all over the Northeast together for traditional lumberjack games, Herrington took a brutal spill during the “boom run” event.

This involves a raging dash across slick logs attached in a row and laid on the surface of the water.
