Geneva man violates order or protection while in jail

Deputies in Ontario County report that a 39-year-old Geneva man was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree after a series of events that took place at the Ontario County Jail over the last several months.

Deputies say that an investigation took place into phone calls, which were made by Ortiz, as well as other inmates during the months of August and September.

Ortiz allegedly had initiated contact with his wife in violation of a duly served stay away order of protection in which she was the protected party by using the phone accounts of other inmates to contact her.

Deputies say that Ortiz had other inmates contact his wife on his behalf, as well. He remains in custody at the Ontario County Jail and will answer these charges at a later date in Hopewell Town Court.
