On Sunday at 6:52 pm deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two car crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 4 and County Road 20 in the Town of Seneca.
Deputies say that a 2006 Saturn sedan being operated by Carol Kniffin, 76, of Penn Yan was crossing the intersection of County Road 20 and County Road 4 – traveling south on County Road 20. Deputies say a 2002 Honda being operated by Nancy Ortiz, 44, of Geneva struck Kniffin at the intersection.
Ortiz had a passenger in her vehicle, who was identified as Maria Santiago, 48, Geneva. Santiago suffered from severe chest pain and a bruised right knee. She was transported to Geneva General Hospital. Ortiz had a minor abrasion, which was treated at Geneva General Hospital. Deputies say that Kniffin complained of head pain and had minor bleeding from her head, as well.
The investigation revealed that Kniffin failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. She was ticketed and will answer the charges at a later date in Seneca Town Court.
