As has been the case for many years, local counties are at the top of the list for driving-while-intoxicated conviction rates in the state. The Department of Motor Vehicles released the 2015 conviction rates last week, and Ontario County again ranks first at 93.39 percent. It is the 31st time in the last 32 years the county has topped the list.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy for drunk driving in Ontario County for one reason only — it makes the highways safer for all of us,” District Attorney R. Michael Tantillo said in an email. “Our conviction rate means that more drunk drivers are being identified, prosecuted and dealt with appropriately by the courts.”
