Lyons woman allegedly stole thousands in temporary assistance benefits

Deputies arrested Anastasia Psomiadis, 36, of Lyons for fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Psomiadis was arrested after an investigation by the Wayne County Department of Social Services. She allegedly failed to report income that she was receiving from employment at the time of application for Temporary Assistance benefits.

It is required by law that she be truthful on the applications and filings when applying for benefits. As a result of the false application and failure to report income, it is alleged Psomiadis was in receipt of $2574.00 worth of temporary benefits that she would not be entitled to.

Psomiadis will appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
