Let’s honor veterans while we still can

The number of World War II era veterans is declining every day, and last week, the Penn Yan community said farewell to a special veteran — 92-year-old Jean Hoagland, who supported the war effort the only way a young woman could in the 1940s. She joined the Women’s Marine Corps Reserves and served from 1944 to 1946 in North Carolina, where she helped transport Marines between Camp LeJune and Cherry Point.
