Finger Lakes Railway, Seneca Meadows call off transfer of landfill material through Auburn

A plan to haul truckloads of liquid landfill material through Auburn has been cancelled after drawing criticism from city officials.

Finger Lakes Railway originally intended to facilitate the transfer of leachate, or liquid drained from a landfill, hauled from Seneca Meadows to out of state. The plan called for truckloads of leachate to be transferred onto rail cars at the railway's transloading station on Frank Smith Street.
