Shooting under investigation in Ithaca; man hospitalized with gunshot wound

Monday Update: In an update to the shooting story out of Ithaca this weekend, police say they’re searching for a vehicle — which they’ve identified as a late-model BMW. It’s white in color and is connected to the shooting. Police have also indicated that the shooting was not random. Several bullet casings were found in the area where the shooting took place.

The victim is currently recovering. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ithaca Police Department.

Original Story: The Ithaca Police Department reports that at approximately 7:20 pm officers responded to the 100 block of South Meadow Street for the report of shots fired in the area. One male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg was located at the 600 block of West State Street.

The victim was provided trauma care on scene by Ithaca Police Officers. According to the report, a tourniquet was used to control the bleeding and the victim was transported to a regional trauma center for additional treatment.

The incident is under investigation, and the Ithaca Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the force at (607) 697-0333.
