Water main break in city of Canandaigua

City of Canandaigua crews responded to a water main break under the sidewalk near the intersection of Charlotte and Gorham streets late Sunday morning. After getting the OK from state safety officials from Dig Safely NY, the crews got down to the dirty job, finishing up about 4 p.m.

The main burst on the south side of the intersection, lifting a section of sidewalk and spewing water that initially flooded out a section of Gorham Street. Crews had to remove a residence’s fence and waded through water above their ankles in the area of the break.
