Woman charged with aggravated DWI after traffic stop in Penn Yan

On Saturday the Penn Yan Police Department arrested a Penn Yan woman after a traffic stop on Luke Street in the village.

Officers say that Kris Schiek, 50, of Penn Yan was observed failing to yield the right of way as she pulled out in front of a vehicle on Liberty Street. Her vehicle also crossed over the center line as it traveled south on Luke Street.

Schiek submitted to a breath test after officers noted the odor of alcohol. She was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests. Ultimately, she was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to yield the right of way, failure to keep right, refusal to submit to pre-screen device and failure to change address with DMV.

She was subsequently released on appearance tickets.
