A Dundee-area man has been indicted in the 2015 death of his girlfriend.
Yates County District Attorney Valerie Gardner announced the grand jury indictment of Charles Taylor Thursday. Taylor was charged with second-degree manslaughter, a class C felony with a maximum sentence of 5 to 15 years in prison.
The five-count indictment also charges Taylor, 25, with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony; criminal injection of a narcotic drug, a class E felony; and two counts of making a punishable false written statement, a misdemeanor.
The charges stem from a heroin overdose that killed 17-year-old Maranda Cleveland on Nov. 8, 2015. Gardner said Taylor was Cleveland’s boyfriend.
