AUDIT: Enfield purchases needed more oversight

An audit released Tuesday by the office of New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli reveals the Enfield Town Board did not provide adequate oversight of some town purchases in 2016.

The audit said town officials did not seek competition for some professional services, and did not follow the town’s procurement policy on the purchase of heat oil and sand, subject to competitive bidding and obtaining a minimum number of quotes. The report said the town could have saved more than $6,000 on the items had policy been followed.
