Crash involving school bus, car sends three to hospital

Police were called to the scene of an accident involving a school bus and car around 3:34 pm.

According to crews on the scene, five Gananda students and two Palmyra-Macedon students were on the bus at the time of the crash. Altogether, as many as seven people suffered injuries in the crash, even though just three were sent to the hospital.

The bus driver, a student, and the driver of the car were all transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with varying injuries. The student was transported out of caution, the bus driver suffered minor injuries, and officials say that the driver of the vehicle — suffered extensive injuries.

Specifics were not available.

All parents were notified quickly after the accident, as school officials worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone was informed and safe.

The accident happened on Route 31F. While no official cause has been released, those emergency crews noted to those on the scene that the driver of the vehicle may have fallen asleep or dozed off. Route 31F was closed for a period of time after the accident.

Identities of those involved were not released.
