Ithaca officially declared a sanctuary city

During a Common Council meeting in Ithaca on Wednesday night, it was voted unanimously that Ithaca would become the state's newest sanctuary city. It was a packed out meeting with people of all ages voicing the same opinion: To make Ithaca a sanctuary city.

Neighbors became emotional as immigrants shared their stories. Mayor Svante Myrick said it's crucial to make Ithaca a sanctuary city, a place where immigrants and refugees are welcomed.
