Troopers: Man drove drunk through Auburn with children in his vehicle

Two children were in a Syracuse man’s vehicle when he was driving while intoxicated Saturday along the westbound Arterial in Auburn, according to the New York State Police. Troopers responded to a 911 call at around 3:02 p.m.of a 2014 Kia Sorrento operating erratically on Grant Avenue while heading west in the city, police said Monday. The vehicle was pulled over on Arterial West just past North Lewis Street.

The driver, 33-year-old Willie R. Florence, failed a field sobriety test and registered a blood-alcohol level of .15, troopers said. Investigators also found approximately 3.5 grams of marijuana in Florence’s vehicle, according to state police.
