An Auburn man is facing a felony assault charge after police said he punched an officer in the face.
Auburn police said they responded to Auburn Ale House around 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 after a bar patron called about Steven J. Felder, of 6 Brookfield Place. Police said they did not have information about the nature of the caller’s complaint.
When police arrived, an altercation ensued and allegedly Felder punched an officer in the face. The blow broke the officer’s glasses and caused pain and swelling, police said. Originally police charged the 22-year-old with second-degree harassment, a violation, but due to the officer’s injuries police upgraded that charge to second-degree assault, a class E felony.
