A worker was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital after a piece of a cell tower fell on him Wednesday afternoon. Initial reports for the incident came in around 1 p.m. for the worker who was trapped on Whitney Road.
Emergency crews arrived on scene and found a section of the cell tower had rolled off the jack stands and crushed the worker’s chest. The section weighed 10,000-14,000 lbs.
Other members of the work crew used a crane to get the section off of the man before EMS crews and Lincoln Fire Department firefighters arrived. He was taken via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
