Mynderse girls rolling towards postseason with win at Newark

The Mynderse Lady Blue Devils jumped out to a 28-15 advantage at the end of the first half and cruised to a 56-36 victory on the road at Newark on Saturday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Friday night but was postponed to Saturday due to winter weather.

Mynderse (12-1, 16-3) was led by senior center Heidi Miller who had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Megan Tilton scored 10 points including three 3-pointers. Sarah Shaffer and Haley Case added 9 points each while Hannah Brown-Trice scored 6 while pulling down 5 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.

Newark (3-10, 7-12) was led by Shaniah Jones with 9 points, all on 3-pointers.

The win puts the Lady Blue Devils one win from securing the #1 seed for the Class B Sectional Tournament. Mynderse will try to secure the top seed on Monday night against Midlakes at Arthur L. Baker Gymnasium in Seneca Falls for their final regular season game.
