The Geneva Fire Department will be hosting a seminar on Saturday, February 18, 2017. This seminar is title: “Operations at Private Dwelling Fires by First Due Fire Companies.” Registration is at 8:30am and the program will run 9:00am-12:30pm at the Smith Opera House (82 Seneca Street). The cost is $15/per person. Pre-registration is requested.
This class is a part of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs’ mini seminar program. This program is a review of the jobs of both the engine and truck company at fires in private buildings. These are the most common fires and we are still loosing firefighters at them. This class will review operations and students will learn about common mistakes made during fires in these settings.
Assistant Chief Kevin Powers of Nester Hose Company says “Capt. Mike Dugan from the FDNY will be our speaker; he is an amazing expert and we are happy that he is coming to Geneva again. We have firefighters from small and large departments from over 9 counties coming–it is a great program for all.” He adds “Pre-registration is very important and anyone can contact me with any questions or to register.”
