Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts has promoted a 20-year veteran of the sheriff’s office to the rank of lieutenant. On Thursday, Virts named Matt Ryndock lieutenant in charge of the sheriff’s office civil division. Ryndock had been a sergeant before the promotion.
Ryndock was formerly a deputy on the marine patrol, road patrol and a sergeant in the road patrol division. He also served on the scuba team, emergency response team as the field supervisor, and was the sheriff’s office field training officer/ coordinator for police services.
Lt. Ryndock will oversee and be responsible for operations in the civil office, including civil summonses and family court orders. He also will be commander of the emergency response team and be responsible for state accreditation for the civil office.
