The Seneca County Board of Elections has upheld an objection to the independent petitions of Republican Waterloo village trustee candidates John Butlak and Damon Monroe. Butlak and Monroe filed petitions this week to obtain an independent ballot line for the Revitalize Waterloo Party.
Ted Young, the village mayor and county Democratic Party chairman, objected saying there were an insufficient number of signatures. Election Commissioner Tiffany Folk said 100 signatures are needed for an independent line. The two Republicans submitted petitions with less than 50 names each and were disqualified.
