State senators oppose Cuomo’s free tuition plan

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to offer free tuition at state colleges and universities for students whose families earn no more than $125,000 annually is opposed by Cayuga County’s state Senate delegation.

State Sens. John DeFrancisco, Pam Helming and Jim Seward said in separate interviews that they have concerns about Cuomo’s plan, which is included in his 2017-18 state budget proposal.
