A spiritual retreat in Honeoye?

Concerns over noise, traffic and protecting the watershed came from several residents Tuesday during a public hearing about a proposed spiritual event site on Briggs Street.

Applicant Soott Gillen wants a special use permit to use 44.25 acres as a place for events such as “mindfulness retreats, meditation workshops, yoga and religious/spiritual ceremonies,” according to the application.

About 15 people attended the public hearing before the town Zoning Board of Appeals. Those included Scott Gillen and his father, Kippley Gillen, who owns the property, and the applicant’s attorney John Wells with Lacy Katzen LLP.
