Teen pregnancy varies significantly between counties in New York. While New York City brings the rate up significantly — counties in the Finger Lakes have a similar problem.

According to numbers from the New York State Health Department, the following numbers reflect the number of pregnancies by teen per 1,000 ranging in age from 15- to 19-years-old.

New York has an overall teen pregnancy rate of 33.2. Taking New York City out of the equation, the rate drops down to 24.

Some counties in the Finger Lakes rank among the highest for rate of teen pregnancy. Others rank among the lowest — like Ontario and Tompkins, which carry teen pregnancy rates of 17.9 and 9.5 respectively.

The counties that fall in the top-25 include the following:

No. 25: Onondaga County —— 29.1
No. 24: Seneca County —— 31.1
No. 19: Steuben County —— 32.4
No. 5: Schuyler County —— 45.2
No. 4: Chemung County —— 46.6
