OFFICIALS: FLTG will be acquired by Albany-based company

Finger Lakes Technologies Group, Inc. will be merging with another player in the fiber space.

In a message to customers on Monday, Paul H. Griswold, President & CEO of FLTG announced a merger with FirstLight Fiber.

Together, the companies will have approximately 4,400 on-net locations with 25,000+ additional locations serviceable from our combined 555,000 fiber mile network that spans across six states.

The newly formed entity will operate 74 data center, colocation and dry paper record facilities, many of which are SOC 2 certified and HIPPA compliant.

FLTG and FirstLight will become the 1st telecommunications company to combine a fiber offering with Cisco’s extensive product portfolio in the Northeast region.

FirstLight Fiber is headquartered in Albany and provides fiber optic data, internet, data center and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers in New York and Northern New England with connectivity to Canada.

FirstLight boasts a fiber network of over 415,000 fiber miles.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2017 with much of the execute team remaining in place.
