At one time, Don Sipp faced a possible sentence of 25 years in prison for disfiguring his estranged girlfriend last April.
In the end he got seven years — and judging by a statement read Monday in Seneca County Court, the woman believes her punishment is far worse.
“I have been sentenced to lifelong scarring,” Jamelle Callon wrote. “I did not deserve anything that happened to me that day.”
Judge Dennis Bender later sentenced Sipp to the seven years, the maximum he could receive following his trial conviction last month for second-degree assault, a class D felony. Sipp was found not guilty of second-degree attempted murder and two counts of first-degree assault, class B felonies with a maximum sentence of 25 years behind bars.
