Cayuga County teacher defeated in race for NYS Board of Regents seat

A longtime teacher and Cayuga County resident wasn't successful in her bid for a seat on the New York State Board of Regents.

Ellen Prusinowski, of Locke, challenged incumbent T. Andrew Brown to serve as the Regent representing the 7th Judicial District, which includes Cayuga County.

Brown, vice chancellor of the Regents, won re-election with 117 votes. He will serve another 5-year term on the board. The vote tally for Prusinowski wasn't immediately available.

Prusinowski was nominated by Assemblyman Gary Finch. He said her background as a special education teacher and her expertise in curriculum development would've benefited the Regents.
