Parks commission recommends rental fee and parking fee for Auburn graduation

The Cayuga County Parks Commission is recommending that the Auburn Enlarged City School District pay a rental fee to hold high school commencement ceremonies on Deauville Island at Emerson Park and for graduates and their attendees to pay a parking fee.

Jeff Pirozzolo, superintendent of the school district, has booked the island for the June 23 graduation while renovations are underway at Holland Stadium, the traditional location for the ceremony. Pirozzolo had asked Keith Batman, chair of the county Legislature, to consider a waiver of the $750 rental fee and $750 security deposit. Batman requested the parks commission make a recommendation to the Legislature.
