Marjorie Donhauser said she doesn't want cancer to define her.
The diagnosis and subsequent treatments may have thrown her for a loop, she said, but she's not letting it stop what she does — and part of what she does is help Special Olympics in a fun, but frigid, way.
Donhauser is fully expecting to wade into the icy-cold Canandaigua Lake waters on Saturday as part of the Canandaigua Polar Plunge, just as she has done for over a dozen years. Like always, Donhauser will be in costume and like always, she is not letting anyone know ahead of time just how she will be dressed.
Battling cancer made raising money more of a struggle, but she said she has the medical OK to head into the water and plans to, although she may play it by ear on plunge day.
