Geneva man receives 17 years to life behind bars in sex assault case

A Geneva man who admitted to sexually victimizing two young girls was sentenced to serve 17 years to life in prison during an appearance in Ontario County Court on Thursday.

The sentence stems from a plea deal crafted by the Ontario County District Attorney's Office that had Anthony Calabrese, 32, of 3005 N. Genesee St., plead guilty to two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A-II felony, as well as a single count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

"This investigation took quite a period of time to confirm the level of depravity, and really, the most disgusting aspects of humanity you can possibly imagine," Ontario County Assistant District Attorney Jason MacBride told Judge William Kocher before the sentence was made official on Thursday. "And the children that were involved really had no chance because Mr. Calabrese is a professional. He was able to manipulate these kids like a master."
