No go on city funds for Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort

If it wasn't clear before, it is now — the city does not have the funds to help the Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort developers recoup the $4 million they said they spent on city-owned property and eminent domain costs.

Instead, the council's finance committee is asking city staff to provide more options for the stalled project moving forward, including the possibility of eminent domain.

Developers David Genecco and Robert Murphy approached the finance committee a month ago seeking help, citing difficulties in securing financing for the $54 million project. Except for shoring up the roof over the building's shell, substantial work came to a halt in 2015 after original financing for the project fell through.
