Port Byron school district’s budget includes tax levy hike

The Port Byron Central School District’s 2017-2018 budget includes a tax levy increase of 1.2 percent.

The budget was passed 5-0 at a school board meeting at Dana West Junior-Senior High School Thursday night. Assistant superintendent for business and finance Mitch Toleson said the tax levy increase allowed by the state this year is 2.3 percent.

The budget comes to $21,273,209, a .67-percent increase from the previous year, with state aid at $13,709,242.

Staff additions will come to the district in the form of two social workers, to help students with possible attendance issues and other things.
