The state Department of Environmental Conservation has prepared a draft air emissions permit for Commodore Technology Plastics LLC at 26 Maple St.
The DEC also has made a tentative determination to issue the renewal permit after a required public comment period ends May 12.
The plant manufactures polystyrene foam for the food packaging industry.
In addition to renewing the permit, the DEC is expected to approve several updates. Those include the addition of two foam extruders for a total of six, addition of four material storage silos for a total of 16 and the addition of emission unit paint booth and surface coating operations.
DEC officials said the plant meets the definition of a major source of air emissions and is subject to regulations due to emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in excess of 50 tons a year.
