Cayuga County could implement hiring freeze while assessing state budget impacts

The Cayuga County Legislature will likely implement a hiring freeze through July 1, should the measure pass at next week’s full meeting.

In the wake of the state’s newly adopted budget, Chairman Keith Batman sent an email to county department heads, asking them to assess the impact of what was passed on their individual stations. Legislators on the Ways and Means Committee agreed Tuesday night that hiring should be put on hold until that impact was fully understood.
