Police: Waterloo man stole car, quickly crashed it

On April 20th at 11:33 pm the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested a Waterloo man after he was involved in a car crash.

Officers say that Justin Leyden, 29, of Waterloo was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and driving while ability impaired by drugs.

The charges stem from an incident where Leyden was the lone occupant in a single-vehicle crash. Upon further investigation it was found that Leyden was impaired by drugs and had just stolen the vehicle from the Village of Waterloo.

He was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $6,000 cash bail or $12,000 secured bond.

He is due back in court on April 26th.
