This has been years in the making.
Many local fire departments are planning events this weekend as part of an effort to recruit volunteers. Manchester is too, but also is planning to show off its new truck, which has been talked about for about 20 years, according to Rich Rice, executive board member of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department.
“We’re pretty excited about it,” Rice said. “We’re still getting familiar with the new member of this family.”
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the firehouse, 8 Clifton St. In addition to enjoying hot dogs and drinks, visitors also can tour the station.
But the truck is the centerpiece of the day.
