Victor considers fire-protection options

It’s been a fast-paced, 30-year stretch of booming growth for Ontario County’s largest town.

Victor officials expect that trend to continue over the next 20 years, when the town is projected to reach full build-out and with its population climbing to 21,000 from 14,400 in 2014.

But while Victor has increased in density and complexity, its framework of public safety services has treaded water.

The town does not directly provide emergency medical services, fire service and law enforcement — it relies on public safety services provided by external agencies. In the case of fire protection, it’s contracts the Victor Fire Department, which is owned by the village of Victor.
