Police: Himrod man was driving under influence of drugs

The Penn Yan Police Department says they arrested a 23-year-old Himrod man, as well as a 22-year-old Penn Yan resident after a traffic stop on Saturday around 5:15 pm.

Police say Nathan A. Shipkowitz, 23, and Dylan S. Snyder, 22 were arrested after a traffic stop on Liberty St. for a suspended registration.

An investigation revealed that Shipkowitz also had a suspended driver’s license. During the stop officers also detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers say he was showing signs of being under the influence of marijuana.

After a series of field sobriety tests, Snyder, who was a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Shipkowitz was charged with DWAI-drugs, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Charges will be answered in Penn Yan Court.
