Thai food coming to downtown Canandaigua

After nearly 40 years of traveling the globe, a Canandaigua native is returning home with his wife — and they’re bringing a new Thai restaurant with them.

The restaurant, called Thai By Night, will be located in the center of downtown at 123 S. Main St. on the corner of Phoenix and South Main. Thai By Night is expected to open to the public in the summer, possibly by next month.

John Guattery grew up in Canandaigua but left to attend the Culinary Institute of America after graduating high school.

“I have chef’d my way across the country for the last 35 years, with stops in Dallas, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Maui and most recently, Washington, D.C.,” said Guattery, owner of Thai By Night with his wife, Pui Wudhapitak.
