Richmond town supervisor’s case returns to court

Nathan Van Bortel was back in City Court Monday regarding a misdemeanor charge alleging the Richmond town supervisor possessed stolen business records from his former employer, Canandaigua National Bank and Trust Co.

Van Bortel, who is Richmond town supervisor, pleaded not guilty in March to the charge. On Monday, Van Bortel’s attorney Robert Zimmerman, said before Judge Stephen Aronson that the charge is scheduled to come before a grand jury. However, there was no date given for presenting the case before a grand jury. Meanwhile, the parties briefly discussed returning to City Court next week over procedural matters.
