Michigan angler tops Spring Lake Ontario Counties Derby

The big news in the local media lately has been the high water levels on Lake Ontario that were hampering access to the lake. Some marinas were shut down. Others adapted to the rising levels.

However, if you were fishing in the Lake Ontario Counties Spring Trout and Salmon Derby May 5-14, the big news was many of the world-class fish that came to the scales in those adverse conditions. In the end, it was a first-time LOC Derby angler from Michigan who brought home the $15,000 grand prize.
