The Victor Central School District says it became aware of a controversial and some say offensive book of haiku poems published by a small group of students in mid-April.
In a statement sent to parents today the district states it investigated the book and found, “It was intended to be humorous and satirical.”
The book includes profanity, homophobic comments and references to violence and suicide. It also names students and others in the school community, something news outlets have not been releasing.
One of the poems is titled “Suicide is always an option.” It reads, “not even joking, toothpick up your (and a reference to genitals)” then mentions a specific student by name.
