The city of Canandaigua and towns of Bristol and East Bloomfield are the first three Ontario County municipalities to be considered for county grants to implement waste-reduction programs.
Canandaigua is in line to receive $33,509.33 for 2016, another $25,111.45 in 2017 and $35,758.68 for 2018. The money would be used:
• To implement a residential organics and backyard composting program.
• To implement a pilot project on organics collections at the new Pinnacle North multi-unit housing complex on Lakeshore Drive.
• To conduct a feasibility and design study on the city’s wastewater treatment facility’s ability to accept organic material.
