Waterloo woman charged with welfare fraud

On Monday a Waterloo woman was arrested after an investigation into welfare fraud.

Deputies say Christena D. Marko, 37, of Waterloo was arrested on Monday around 1:07 pm after she allegedly fraudulently received over $3,800 in benefits from Seneca County.

Subsequently, Marko was charged with third-degree welfare fraud – a Class D felony, as well as third-degree grand larceny – also a Class D felony.

Marko was arraigned in Tyre Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

The charges will be answered in Waterloo Village Court at a later date.
